On the cover of the March 2022 issue of the prestigious Decanter wine magazine stands Vintae's director Ricardo Arambarri in a wine fountain, glass in hand, shouting with joy. The image is jubilant, Ricardo's expression and body language messianic. The headline suits him perfectly: Adventures in Spain, Rioja, Ribera, Rueda and many more.
Despite the cover photo, Vintae's wines are not featured in an article this time, but two Vintae wines are recommended among the wines of the Toro region. The Matsu range's magnificent white La Jefa, a refined personality from exceptionally old Malvasía Castellana vines, with a touch of Viura and Albillo. Matsu El Recio is also included with the most complimentary words of praise, representing the Toro region's almost black red wines that lack neither structure nor nuance. Fortunately, both of these are also available at Alko, not to mention Matsu's two other wines distinguished by their striking and distinctive face portraits. El Picaro is a lively and spirited bargain wonder and El Viejo a multidimensional, velvety combination of maturity, structure and delicious nuance.
Richi, as many call Ricardo, delights in his role as cover boy and crazy nobleman. He wants to bring his wonderful wines close to the curious consumer, for whom the monastic Latin of wine jargon and snobbery may not necessarily open up. The great dream of Vintae's 70-person team is to make understandable, modern wines for today's people without losing the finest treasures of old vineyards and centuries-old wine culture. To fool around, enjoy life, tell stories and dream of making wines.
Vintae's wines invite you on an adventure to Spain
All the dedication, determined effort and love for wine are also beautifully evident in the Hacienda López de Haro range of enjoyable Rioja wines. López de Haro Blanco redefines the Viura grape with its freshness and clean-lined fruitiness. López de Haro Rosé is like a summer day in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra as the day turns to evening and the restaurant aromas beckon. Lopez de Haro Organic Tempranillo is the same wine as the favorite wine QP that has conquered the Finns, now just in new clothes. A dose of holiness fits in a bottle of El Pacto, where modern thinking and our ancestors' way of making wine shake hands. It is the vineyard's manifestation at its purest.
Every bottle of Vintae contains an enticing invitation to an adventure in Spain. I accept the invitation every now and then. At night in my dreams I jump into the wine fountain to splash around with Rich, glass raised. During the day I wouldn't dare anymore. Ricardo is considerably more handsome.
