A succulent wine for grilled meat, for spicy sausages and richly flavoured cheeses. The silky chocolate notes also makes it a winter fireplace wine.

Arzuaga considers Crianza their flagship wine. The grapes are Tempranillo,Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which grow in the oldest part of the vineyard at a height of 911 meters in clay limestone soil. In October, when the the grapes are fully ripe, theyare harvested in boxes of 15 kg and taken for sorting. The rachis are removed and the juice and its skins are fermented in chilled steel tanks at a temperature of 27 °C. Before bottling, the wine matures for 16 months in half French and half American oak casks.

Full-bodied, medium tannins, notes of plum, figlike, notes of vanilla

Producer story

"Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro was established in the early 1990s. Florentino Arzuaga, a great wine enthusiast, founded the company after acquiring Finca la Planta, which had its own flora and fauna in the Ribera del Duero region. Soon after, vineyards, a cellar, and wines were introduced—particularly red wines, which were his favorites; wines that embodied body, elegance, roundness, and complexity.

The estate spans an impressive 1400 hectares, with 150 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vines bask in the sun during the day while the nights are cool and moist. The vineyards grow both Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and French varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The yields are very low. For some wines, Arzuaga purchases grapes from growers who uphold the same standards. Arzuaga also produces excellent olive oil. Furthermore, the estate has heavily invested in wine tourism. In addition to tours and tastings, they have a hotel, restaurant, and spa.

In the world of wine, Arzuaga is still a relatively young contender, but the quality of its wines has elevated it as one of the most renowned producers in Ribera del Duero."
