Riesling and Chardonnay for Your Crayfish Party

Crayfish are back in season. For many, crayfish parties are a summer highlight, and fresh white wines pair beautifully with these seafood delicacies. How about a glass of trendy Riesling, or would you prefer a crisp and refreshing Chardonnay?

Crayfish parties are an annual tradition that includes good company, the art of eating crayfish, and of course, great wines to go with them. The crayfish season opens in late July and runs through the end of October. To catch crayfish yourself, you'll need the proper permits and fees in order, plus the ability to identify different crayfish species. But don't worry: luckily, you can also get crayfish from the fish counter or even frozen, if your own crayfish-catching skills are a bit hit-or-miss.

Eating crayfish can be quite an exciting experience for first-timers, but there's no need to worry. The key is a special crayfish knife that helps you get the crayfish out of their shells. Start with the claws, then move on to the crayfish butter found under the shell of the body, and finally the meat from the tail. Quite a bit of work, but the result is worth it. And during the process, you can of course already sample a glass of the evening's wine.

So what should you serve with those crayfish? Will you reach for trendy Rieslings this time, or are you perhaps a Chardonnay fan? We recommend trying at least these excellent candidates.
