Organic, vegan & in environmentally responsible packaging
Monkey Wine, or Katse La Mirada, immediately won the hearts of Finnish consumers when it arrived on the market. And no wonder: it features wonderfully expressive great ape faces on its packaging, pleasant-tasting red wine inside, and several added value factors. 'La Mirada' is Spanish and means the gaze. A gaze is a powerful signal, and eyes are said to be the mirror of the soul. The gazes of Katse La Mirada's great apes also convey stories of an eventful life; its joys, sorrows, and other great emotions.
Wine made for Finns - developed by a Finnish expert

If you enjoy a juicy, berry-forward and spicy red wine, Monkey Wine is an excellent choice! This smooth wine is rich and full-flavored, yet has a calm gentleness combined with high quality. Suitable as a social wine, it also pairs well with a wide range of different foods.
La Mirada is made in Spain with a Finnish expert specifically to suit the taste of the domestic market. When the vintage changes, the influence of the harvest year can generally alter the wine slightly, especially when it's an organic wine that reflects the region of origin and that year's growing conditions as authentically as possible. When vintages change, experts also verify that the flavor profile remains suitable for Finns.

Organic certification
Monkey Wine is organically certified. Organic practices in viticulture also mean minimal environmental impact. The aim is to support biodiversity, and only natural additives are used in winemaking, and those in minimal amounts. Here you can read more about what organic wine means as a concept.
Environmentally responsible packaging
To many people's surprise, the biggest environmental impact of wine doesn't come from transportation, but from the packaging itself and its production. Alko and other Nordic alcohol monopolies commissioned a study on this. According to it, the smallest carbon footprint per liter of beverage is from bag-in-box packaging, or BIB. Monkey Wine is sold in an environmentally friendly 3-liter bag-in-box. It's worth taking a closer look at this interesting study commissioned by the monopolies.
Vegan wine
Monkey Wine is also vegan, meaning the producer hasn't used animal-derived additives in winemaking. This means the same wine is perfect for serving to your guests even when people follow different diets. Monkey Wine tastes wonderful with traditional grilled sausage as well as with soy nuggets or BBQ seitan patties. You can read more about veganism and wine here.
Gorillas and humans are close to each other
Gorillas and humans belong to the same order of primates, even though we have since diverged into different tribes. According to WWF, we share as much as 98.3% of our DNA.
Many of us feel a special kinship with these magnificent relatives, and perhaps that's exactly why consumers have fallen in love with Monkey Wine's expressive faces. Looking at us from the sides of the bag-in-box are a cheeky gorilla and orangutan. Perhaps we also see ourselves in them?
