What kind of drink is a Hugo? Well, Hugo is a trendy, rapidly rising hit—a dry drink with a sweet twist. It's the perfect refresher for a summer day but also works perfectly as an aperitif or, when multiplied, as a punch.

hugo prosecco with ice and lime

Recipe:

2 cl elderflower cordial

10 cl Soligo Prosecco
A splash of sparkling water
Lime juice to taste
Fresh mint leaves
Lime slices
Ice

Choose a glass and fill it with ice. A wine glass or larger tumbler works best for this drink. Pour the elderflower cordial into the bottom of the glass and squeeze the juice from a lime wedge into the glass as well. You can also drop the squeezed wedge into the glass for extra flavor. Add the sparkling wine, sparkling water, and mint leaves to the glass. Gently stir the drink with a spoon or similar utensil.

It's easy to adjust the flavor of the drink to be sweeter by adding more cordial or fresher by adding more sparkling wine or lime.

Tip: Get more flavor and aroma from the mint leaves by holding them in your palm and clapping your hands together before adding them to the drink. And if you're not a fan of sparkling wine, you can easily swap it for white wine—the best options for this are Crudo Catarratto Zibibbo and Wolfberger W3, which nicely adds extra aromatics to the drink.
