ArtSpritz is a wine-based aperitif that gets its flavor from selected herbs and spices, each extracted separately. These include orange, cinchona bark, vanilla, and rhubarb. Combined with sparkling wine, it quickly creates an easy and refreshing aperitif. It represents the old Italian orange aperitif tradition. At the same time, the drink is as current and trendy as can be. It's made by the Bosca family from Piedmont, Italy, with over 200 years of experience.
The Spritz aperitif tradition originated when the Habsburg monarchy once ruled parts of northeastern Italy. The word itself comes from the German verb 'spritzen', which translates to 'spray' or 'splash' in English. The local wine seemed too strong for the Habsburg soldiers, so they lightened it by diluting it with water.
Over time, numerous versions of the spritz have emerged. ArtSpritz, like many others, has a bitter taste. It's versatile: not only in drinks, it works just as well on its own or with ice, 'on the rocks'. Today, the Spritz is also a popular and well-known aperitif drink in Finland.
