A crisp cocktail well-suited to Finnish tastes, made with gin, redcurrant, and gooseberry, lengthened with hibiscus tonic. This drink's recipe follows the style of the classic Gimlet with small, interesting variations. A Gimlet includes lime juice and syrup (or sometimes lime syrup), while in The Long Goodbye drink, the lime juice is replaced with Schweppes Premium Hibiscus Tonic and redcurrant and gooseberry syrup is used instead of simple syrup.
The drink's name comes from the 1953 crime novel The Long Goodbye, in which an important character, Terry Lennox, is remembered for his fondness for the Gimlet cocktail.

Ingredients:
4 cl gin
2 cl redcurrant & gooseberry syrup
Schweppes Premium Hibiscus Tonic
Instructions:
Measure the gin and syrup into a glass over ice. Stir vigorously for a moment. Lengthen the drink with tonic to taste. You can also prepare the drink as a short cocktail in a cocktail glass by chilling the gin and syrup in a glass with ice before straining into the cocktail glass.
Garnish the drink with, for example, blueberries.
