Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling won bronze in Viinilehti's Rosé Wine of the Year 2021 competition. Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling was also the best Pink Riesling in the competition.
The jury described Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling as follows:
”The bronze-winning wine turned out to be a pleasant surprise after the bottle was revealed. It represents the new, trendy Pink Riesling style. This charming wine combines Riesling with a red-toned berry aroma in a delicious way.” – Viinilehti 2021
Pink Riesling gets its name from the Riesling grape by adding a hint of Pinot Noir, which gives the wine its pale pink color.
In its review, Viinilehti describes Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling as follows:

”A fairly subtle but very clean-cut aroma brings to mind ripe redcurrant, raspberry, and a hint of herbs. The palate is dry and echoes the aromas of the nose. It also features nuances of ripe lingonberries. Lively citrus acidity gives the wine structure and carries the whole to a slightly mouth-puckering finish.” – Viinilehti 2021
The award-winning Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling was created through collaboration between Norex's wine team and Thorsten Mehrelin from Weinhof 519 vineyards' Rheingau Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes. The goal was to create a distinctive Rosé Riesling where the Riesling's acidity would taste clearer and the Pinot Noir's berry character would come through more strongly. Since German wine law does not allow rosé made from Riesling, a drop of water had to be added to the wine, making it aromatized with water.
The fresh acidity makes Weinhof 519 Pink Riesling an excellent social drink and a great pairing for risottos, salads, and goat cheeses. Its bouquet reveals citrus, rose petals, red currants, flowers, raspberries, and wild strawberries. The wine is dry and balanced, with refined acidity, raspberry notes, cherry notes, and floral character.
