Paddleboard Cellars Albarino

Paddleboard Albariño is a delightful aperitif and an easygoing wine for social occasions. It also pairs beautifully with seaside fish dishes, Asian cuisine, chicken and turkey, as well as grilled fish and vegetables.

Albariño is known for its freshness and aromatic character, especially in northern Spain in Galicia’s Rías Baixas region, and in Portugal’s Vinho Verde region where it is known as Alvarinho. This popular variety has also spread to North America, and in California’s Lodi region the acreage of fashionable Albariño has grown significantly. The Californian sunshine adds roundness and richness to the wine without taking anything away from the charm of the variety. I might not place this bottle on a paddleboard in direct sunlight – it is too fine a wine for that – but the relaxed spirit of summer certainly suits the character of this delicious wine.
