Nicolas Feuillatte originally built his career in instant coffee, specializing in importing coffee and cocoa. Feuillatte also served as a diplomat in Africa and was a familiar face in New York’s social circles. New York’s jet set loved gathering at his penthouse apartment near Central Park. Guests included Sophia Loren, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, Shirley MacLaine, Yves Saint-Laurent, and Lauren Bacall.

At forty, Feuillatte wanted a change in his life and moved to Australia, inspired by photography. However, an inheritance from France changed his life once again: in 1972 he inherited 12 hectares of prime land in Champagne, the champagne production region.

Feuillatte initially produced champagne only for his friends. In 1976 he founded the company, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, relying on his famous friends to help with marketing. In 1986 Feuillatte and the growers’ cooperative Centre Vinicole de la Champagne (CVC) merged. This guaranteed Feuillatte access to quality grapes and broader resources. Feuillatte’s triumphant rise in the champagne market began.

Today, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is the best-selling and most popular champagne in its home country of France, and the third most popular champagne in the world. In Finland, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte’s popularity has grown tremendously in recent years.

Champagne

So what is champagne? Champagne (French: champagne) is a sparkling wine from the Champagne region that serves as the model for all other sparkling wines. Only sparkling wine from the Champagne region can be called champagne, meaning all champagne is sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine is champagne.

Champagne has many roles. It fits significant, unique occasions, but also moments you want to elevate from the everyday. Champagne use is associated with many traditions, special moments, and the stories they create. Gourmets have always enjoyed champagne. Champagne is always a reliable aperitif for fine dinners. It’s also the perfect companion for elegant starters like roe, caviar, goose liver, and duck liver. Champagne is also considered the only drink you can enjoy throughout an entire meal.

Learn more about the Nicolas Feuillatte champagne house on its own website (in English) here.

Explore all Nicolas Feuillatte products:

“Champagne is for fun!” This quote from Nicolas Feuillatte perfectly captures his adventurous journey…

[439,453,438
["post-8647","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-producers","category-sparkling-wines-and-champagnes","category-we-recommend
["GET
